Hybrid retouch × motion-aware AI for frame-consistent, artefact-free removals
A
ward-winning feature documentary—
Come See Me In The Good Light (
IMDb)—needed sensitive personal data removed across the entire movie without breaking the reality of the image. The brief was simple and strict: protect people;
leave no visible VFX.
I built a
novel, two-part approach. First, I used high-end photographic retouching to create clean sources for each problem area (names, numbers, documents, signage, etc.). Then I fused these with
motion-aware AI models so the removals stayed perfectly aligned with camera and subject movement—
no flicker, no warping, no tell-tale smears. Grain, texture and lighting were matched back shot-by-shot so everything felt naturally photographed.
The result is
frame-accurate redaction that preserves narrative flow and visual integrity.
